Blogging for traffic – Blogging guidelines that guarantee more traffic
Posted by: admin In: SEO Tutorials
What is blogging?
Everyone that has surfed the internet knows what a blog is and for those who don’t know what blogging is here is a brief overview of what is blogging. Blogging actually started out as a way for people to maintain logs or online diaries about themselves. These were for the most part personal and were mostly just shared with a small number of friends. Later these blogs also called weblogs began to generate a lot of traffic especially from search engines who loved the way blogs were organized and the information rich format that they had. This later led to what is now known as commercial blogging or blogs maintained by organizations for the sheer purpose of brining in traffic to sell commercial items or advertisements. Marketers quickly noticed that it was much easier for them to sell via a blog than with a commercial website with a high sales pitch.
Here are a few really useful blogging guidelines that will greatly increase traffic to your blog.
Tip no. 1:
When crafting a blog post it is necessary to take the time out and research your topic thoroughly. Your goal is not to complete a blog post in under an hour but rather to craft a blog post that is useful and holds the attention of the reader. You also need to take the time out and optimize your blog post for the keywords you are trying to target.
Tip no. 2:
When crafting a post you must make sure that your post addresses a specific problem and offers a solution to that problem. People searching the internet are looking for a solution they are not interested in a sales pitch.
Tip no. 3:
Your post must have a strong headline. Headlines that are weak rarely make it to their target audience. Let’s take for instance this headline: “10 ways to speed up your computer” and here is the optimized headline: “10 sure shot ways to fire-up your computer” or “10 steps to a faster computer” . You can see from the example that the optimized headlines are both attention grabbing and almost demand of a person to click on your link. We know that your first few blogs won’t be very easy but you can always take the time out and brainstorm various headlines.
Tip no. 4:
When blogging one of the most important yet unfortunately neglected aspect is design and format. Your blog as well as your posts need to be formatted for two main things i.e. aesthetics and b. readability. You don’t necessarily need to hire a designer to design a beautiful blog for you can pick from the many free templates available online. People also like to see pictures and videos so if you can include those you will just add more value to your posts.
Tip no. 5:
Learn from what other bloggers and doing. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel with your blog all you need to do is to use what is working for others. This doesn’t mean that you should steal other people’s posts or meta descriptions it rather means that you should learn from what they are doing. For instance if they have set up an rss feed so should you. If they have links to social bookmarking sites so should you.
