Google Page rank – How to Leverage the power of Google Trust Rank
Posted by: admin In: SEO Tutorials
I’ve see a lot of articles discussing the various techniques that can be used to increase page rank which in turn will increase the amount of traffic coming to your blog or website, while the fact of the matter is that Page Rank is just one of the methods that Google uses to rate the content and quality of websites. In this article we will look at Google Trust Rank an algorithm used by Google to measure a website or blog’s reliability and quality.
How does Google’s Trust Rank Work?
Google’s trust rank can be summarized in the following three points:
- High quality pages don’t link to low quality or spam pages / websites or blogs.
- Google’s Trust Score reduces as it gets further away from the Seed page. We will discuss seed pages in detail below.
- If you want to get a powerful trust score you need a link directly from the seed page.
Explanation
What Google does is it gets a group of human beings to determine the trust rank of a handful of pages these pages are also called “seed pages”. Once these human beings determine that the quality of these pages is high it is then assigned a high trust score. Now the fun part is that any pages that links from these pages are also given a high trust score, and pages that are further linked from those pages also get a good trust score but slightly lower. This is how the trust rank system works in a nutshell. Well known seed pages are: DMOZ, Search Engine Watch, Yahoo Directory, and Microsoft.com. Now you can understand why every SEO consultant recommends that you register with these directories to get more traffic.
More About Google Trust Rank
The interesting point about Google’s trust rank is that pages that link out to seed pages or pages with high trust ranks are also given a high trust rank. This means if you place an outbound link to a website which has a high page rank or is a seed page your website will be given a high trust rank. Yes link building via article directories and website directories is a good idea but these resources are drying up faster than they can actually gain any ground.
As an SEO consultant your job is to get a hold of these seed pages and then try to get links from these seed pages. One thing is for sure it will take time and will cost you but you will end up with a high quality link that will not only raise your trust rank but will also bring in more traffic.
Just searching for seed pages is not enough you need to search for seed pages within your niche. A good way to guess if a page is a seed page is if it looks authoritative and humanly edited. The domain needs to be old as well I’d say at least 5 years or more. Now go out and start building those high quality back links.
