Link Building Opportunities that Most Webmasters Overlook
Posted by: admin In: SEO Tutorials
Almost any webmaster who is worth his salt knows the importance of good back links. As discusses in my previous posts back links act as votes that enable search engines such as Google to determine if a website is relevant to a search term that is entered. Over the years I have seen many webmasters over look some very good opportunities to build back links from websites that were within their niche. In this article we will look at some of those very good opportunities.
Don’t take New Website for Granted
New websites especially those under three months old have few back links and no PageRank that is because Google still hasn’t let them out of its sandbox. The truth is that many of these websites are really worth more than you might think they are. I’ve come across many new websites usually maintained by part time webmasters who run these websites as a hobby, they sometimes drive tons of traffic without a visible page rank or back links. Even if they don’t draw in tons of traffic they sure have the potential to do so.
Many of these websites have the potential to gain momentum and if you could read the signs a well placed backlink to your website on these websites would mean once the website gets a good page rank you will rise with it. We all know just how expensive and how difficult it can be to get back links from well established websites where as these websites are very easy to get back linked from.
Don’t Trust the Google Toolbar
Don’t overlook a good link building opportunity just because your Google toolbar says that the website has no PageRank. The Google toolbar is only a litmus test to see if the website really has some rankings and this is something even Google acknowledges. Plus the tool bar has known to make mistakes.
If you really want to check if a page is worth your time do a back link check to see how many back links it has as well as run an alexia check to see the amount of traffic it gets each month. Also ask the webmaster how much traffic the website receives.
When building back links you need to make sure that you get more back links that drive targeted traffic to your website than just websites with a high page rank.
No-follow links are still useful
When most webmasters see a no-follow link on a website or they see that here is no opportunity to generate a back link via a comment of a forum or a blog because there is no-follow links imposed they don’t post to blogs and forums like that and miss a good opportunity to generate buzz.
A no follow link will mean that you don’t receive any back links from your post but it will generate buzz as well as get people to click on your link and take a look at your website. Consider out of the many hundreds of people who read your forum post or blog post if even ten of them feature them in their own blogs and add a link to your website you just eared 10 back links via that one no follow link!
